Can mental peak performance really make a difference? Just ask this all star

I came across this video and had to share it with you, because it’s a great example of several mental aspects and techniques  I help athletes develop. I always said that the most important mental skills for any athlete to acquire are: ability to deal with uncertainty  and being focused in the moment. In the video you will see one strategy that was used effectively.

Pay special attention as Evan talks about how he refocuses himself by looking out at something specific in the field. What he doesn’t tell you, is what else happens in that moment and how you can do the same. One of the techniques I teach and made a video of: Instant Focus Technique really goes in depth of teaching you how to focus quickly.

Instant Focus Technique

This is a technique that was used by Samurai before going into a battle. It heightens the senses, increases calmness and focus. As they put it in the movie “300” you feel no fear, just a heightened sense of things.  It’s excellent for centering yourself before going into the  competition. It’s also very useful for regaining composure quickly. In my opinion this technique produces the optimal state for competing.
